Nothing says childhood like a party where the cake is sweet, the outfits are polyester, and the viruses are airborne. This painting was inspired by a vintage photograph from my own early years - a gathering that looked innocent enough, until the spots showed up. It’s a tribute to the strange 1980s tradition of turning contagious illness into a social event, complete with cordial, cupcakes, and a side of calamine lotion. Because nothing bonds kids like balloons, party hats, and a shared incubation period.
